USA January / February 2013

Hello,

after 2011 it was again to have some nice and relaxing holidays in the US. This time during the winter months with the hope of good weather and sunshine.Well, it was harder than in summer, but at least some nice pictures ended up on the memory cards.....

First stop: Nevada, Nellis AFB!!! And this time with an big exercise.... Red Flag 2013-2 just kicked off

Next stop is Fallon, or to be more clear in NAS Fallon "Home of Top Gun":

US Navy F/A-18C in the really cold desert of Nevada.....


US Navy uses F-16's as agressors. This is one of the planes that originally had to go to Pakistan.....


A quick visit in the tower of Fallon gives a really cool view "down to this Growler....."

This time a lot of military planes, but that's it from Nevada, next stop is in California.....More pictures with also civilians to come in a few days.....

Amazing pictures!!! But the spotting is forbidden in the US, isn't it?

Thanks for the compliments. Well, spotting is largely common in the US at it's not forbidden. It's just at some sites a bit strictly enforced. Most airports same spotting places, which also the security forces have approved. Staying there is no big deal, just bear in mind that regular checks are normal. My biggest problems around the airports was to find a decent parking spot which was legal as traffic police is very, very though......

The military bases are used to spotters and tolerate them as long as you stay on public grounds. This might change if Air Force One is approaching .... and don't worry, they have enough space to hide things they don't want to be spotted..... Just google Area 51 and you can read about it and get an idea about what is well kept of public eyes.....

But if you stay on public ground and not trying to enter or climb any fences, you will have a good time and surely meet some fellow spotters within short time.

Yes ok, thanks for these informations! I knew it was a stereotype, but I really thought that spotters could be considered as terrorists ^^
